Recommend talented, motivated art students to attend the Candid Kids Camp

Louisville Visual Art (LVA) is proud to announce the Candid Kids Camp: a tuition-free celebration of Photography and learning for ages 7- 12 that runs June 17– 21, 2024. This 1/2 day week-long camp will be held in the LVA Offices and Warehouse, 1538 Lytly St., Louisville, KY 40203.

Louisville Visual Art is seeking community recommendations for a 1/2 day week-long scholarship-based visual art camp on the theme of Photography - Candid Kids. This camp (for ages 7 to 12) is available to students from the Zones of Hope and surrounding areas will take place 9:00 am-12:00 pm June 17-21. Candid Kids provides an opportunity for the students to learn the basics of photography by exploring various types of image-making. Students begin the week creating cyanotypes and move on to digital cameras. Students will discover new talents, gain confidence, learn to collaborate with classmates, and develop their own creative voice. The project culminates in an exhibition and a publication of their work.

To fill the slots in Candid Kids, we’re asking teachers, principals and community leaders in the Zones of Hope and surrounding areas to recommend 2 students with promise and passion for the arts. Once a recommendation** is received, parents/guardians will receive an online application. 

The camp is open to 15 children and will be given to students on a first come first serve basis. A $50 refundable deposit is required by parents/guardians (this refundable deposit will be issued upon completion of the camp). Please send in your recommendations as soon as possible, so your students can be a part of this enriching camp.

**Recommendation indicates that the nominated student is capable of creating and collaborating with confidence and success in the visual and/or literary arts, and has the maturity to enjoy camp activities responsibly without disrupting others.
