Second Cohort Announced for
Public Art Purchasing Program

Louisville Visual Art (LVA) proudly announces the selection of two curators, Julie Leidner and Julia Youngblood, for the second round of Curate Purchase Inspire (CPI) made possible by a generous $1 Million donation from local artist Clare Hirn. Dedicated to supporting local artists and organizations, CPI places original art in nonprofits and civic buildings. In collaboration with community arts leaders, LVA mentors two emerging curators over six months, helping them identify local artists' work for purchase and installation in public spaces.

Julie Leidner, an arts organizer, writer, and curator, will curate "Last Flowers," a permanent exhibition at the Hildegard House, a non-profit in Louisville’s historic Butchertown that provides a comfortable and loving place for people without means to die with dignity. Leidner’s exhibition will explore the theme “wisdom in death” through works by local artists. 

Julia Youngblood, an arts activist and photographer, will curate "Divergent Dreams," a collection for Dreams with Wings (DWW), a nonprofit empowering individuals with developmental challenges and autism. The exhibition highlights the transformative power of art in institutional interiors, affirming the presence of neurodivergent individuals in Louisville's art scene.

CPI strives to create a citywide collection of art created by local artists and displayed in vibrant nonprofits across Louisville. CPI embodies LVA’s commitment to support regional artists, nurture emerging curators, and enhance public access to art.
