This class will be focusing on how to simplify color and use it to suggest light -- how to use a limited palette effectively and the process of mixing color.
Meet at the Water Tower on Monday May 17, 8:30AM. TUesday and Wednesday class will travel to outdoor sites in Louisville.

About Phil
Phil Starke began to show an interest in art from the tme he lived in Germany as a young boy while his father was in the military. He studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Inspired by the instructors at the Academy, Starke changed course from his aim at the advertising world and developed a passion for oil painting. It was upon graduation from the American Academy of Art that he decided to plung into the profession of fine art. From the Midwest, West, and Southwest, Phil has continued to be inspired. Each season and each region has its own color palette and unique landscapre. From landscape to figures, and plein-air to studio painting, Phil continues to find inspiration in his work. www.philstarke.com

Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red Light, Venetian Red, Alizarin Crimson, Ultramarine Blue, Viridian
Palette: Wooden or paper, at least 12 x 16
Brushes: White oil bristle brushes, FIlberts #2, 4, 6, 8
Other: Medium Size Painting Knife, Paint Thinner (Gamsol or Turpinoid), Paper Towels, Canvas or canvas boards (8x10, 9x12, 11x14, 12x16, at least 4 total)
For Outdoor Painting: Outdoor Easel, Camping Stool, 8x10 or 9x12 canvas board (2 each), Trash Bag, Water , Sunscreen
