Open Doors Instructor
Clare, a native Louisvillian and CFAC alumnae, received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. After leaving Bloomington she accepted a full scholarship to the New York Academy of Art - Graduate School of Figurative Art. The curriculum stressed strong foundational skills for working "realistically" from life and the figure.
After graduating with her masters in painting and drawing in 1990, Hirn worked for a mural design firm in NYC, learning the techniques of working large scale. Upon returning to Louisville, she pursued both mural work and her personal painting, participating and receiving awards in many regional shows. She has had three one-person gallery shows. Hirn's fine art murals grace many homes and businesses and have appeared in numerous publications.
Clare joined LVAA in 2008 by co-facilitating an Open Doors project at Kentucky Refugee Ministries. She later used her expertise to help members of the Northeast YMCA create a mural in a gym at their facilities.
